About the Role
Our client, a leading national insurance brokerage and consulting firm specializing in risk management solutions, is seeking a polished and experienced Lead Construction Account Manager to support large, complex accounts within the construction sector. This role sits within a specialized division focused on complex and high-value risk portfolios and offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated clients and sizable books of business.
This individual will serve as a strategic partner to both clients and internal stakeholders, leading service delivery, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with a Producer on growth initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong construction industry expertise, exceptional professionalism, and a proven track record of managing and retaining large client relationships.

Job Description
The Lead Construction Account Manager is responsible for managing a substantial book of business (approximately $1.5M in revenue, with large accounts averaging $100K per client) while delivering high-touch service and strategic guidance. This role partners closely with a Producer and leads a support team that may include Assistant Account Managers and Account Executives.
  • Manage and foster strong client relationships to ensure retention, satisfaction, and long-term growth
  • Support the Producer in identifying and developing new business opportunities within existing accounts and prospects
  • Lead the renewal process, including strategy development, market analysis, and presentation preparation
  • Analyze client exposures and develop detailed marketing specifications for renewals and new business
  • Conduct marketing efforts, negotiate terms, and evaluate quotes to ensure competitive and comprehensive coverage
  • Review policies and contracts for accuracy, completeness, and coverage gaps
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and coverage summaries tailored to large, complex accounts
  • Bind coverage and oversee documentation, including binders and certificates issuance
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and support staff
  • Participate in the claims process, including submissions, follow-ups, and client communication
  • Monitor client accounts receivable and assist with resolving discrepancies and collections
  • Maintain accurate records within agency systems and ensure compliance with data integrity standards
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders while operating with a high level of independence and leadership
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 8-10+ years of insurance account management experience, with a strong preference for 10+ years
  • Significant experience managing large market construction accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-revenue book of business ($1M+ preferred)
  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring, directing, or overseeing team members
  • Strong client relationship management skills with a high level of professionalism and executive presence
  • Active property & casualty insurance license
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agency management systems
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within a large national brokerage or consulting environment
  • Advanced technical knowledge of construction risk, coverage structures, and contracts
  • Experience supporting Producer-led growth strategies and business development efforts
  • Prior experience leading or supporting a team of Account Managers or Assistants
  • Industry designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, CIC)
