In this role, you'll fill prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assist with inventory and quality assurance, and help deliver the exceptional patient care that Hy-Vee is known for.If you are an enrolled pharmacy student who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and passionate about patient health, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoProvide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and making every interaction a positive oneFill and help process prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in accordance with all state and federal statutes and regulationsPrepare prescriptions and affix labels to prescription containersReport any medication errors to appropriate personnelAssist with inventory control including ordering, stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory informationAssist with monthly inventory and follow security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance ProgramsAssist in training pharmacy employeesMaintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing areaMaintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information and prescription drug pricing in accordance with HIPAAWork with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policiesMaintain a professional appearance at all timesAssist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assignedAdhere to all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelinesReport to work when scheduled and on timeYour SkillsApply logical and scientific thinking to solve problems involving both abstract and concrete variablesPerform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accuratelyCompose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, and evaluate technical dataCounsel and advise customers and interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team membersMaintain a high level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential patient and financial informationReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Pharmacy Department ManagerEducation and ExperienceCurrently enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy requiredRegistered with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern requiredSix months or less of similar or related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in the pharmacy and dispensing area, including extended periods at a pharmacy counter or workstation while filling and processing prescriptionsAbility to count, pour, package, and label medications, and fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, in accordance with state and federal pharmacy regulationsExposure to bloodborne pathogens and sharps (needles, lancets) associated with pharmacy operations and, where certified, immunization administrationAbility to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role in a retail pharmacy where you will handle multiple tasks throughout your shift including filling prescriptions, answering the telephone, and assisting customers. You will have frequent exposure to noise and occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals or solvents.
