Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience.

Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit with MedSurg/Telemetry patient population
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to MedSurg units required
• Manages cardiac drips without titration
• Performs IV starts and heparin protocols

Requirements

• Active RN license (Alabama or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response/code teams required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy and blood product administration skills required
• Central and peripheral line care/management experience required
• Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula and oxygen administration required
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response care for stepdown-level patients
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias as part of daily patient care
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips
• Perform non-invasive airway management and respiratory support
• Must work at least one designated holiday (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel position
• Requested time off limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a different rate
• Candidates with a pending license may be considered
