Heavy Equipment Shop TechnicianHiFyve is hiring a Heavy Equipment Shop Technician in Gastonia, NC!Salary: $32-$35/hourShift: Full-time, Day ShiftLocation: Gastonia, NCBenefits: Full benefits package, paid holidays, paid training, 401(k) matchPosition OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Shop Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and service construction equipment in a shop environment. This role is central to supporting operations by performing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment is restored to safe, reliable working condition. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and taking ownership of high-quality repair results.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, repair, rebuild, install, and test components and systems on heavy construction equipmentUse diagnostic tools, service manuals, laptops, and test equipment to determine mechanical and electrical failuresDisassemble and reassemble major components using proper tools, cranes, hoists, and equipmentPerform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, belts, hoses, coolant, and fuel system serviceWeld and fabricate as needed, including frame repairs, wear strips, and surface grindingClean equipment using power washers and prepare parts for painting as neededOperate forklifts, hoists, and lifting devices safely when moving large componentsReprogram equipment controllers using diagnostic instrumentationMaintain accurate documentation of repairs, parts usage, and service notesUphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work areaSupport additional shop duties and projects as neededRequirementsHigh school diploma, technical certificate, or equivalent required3–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience in a shop environmentAbility to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentationStrong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systemsAbility to lift up to 70 lbs and perform repetitive bending, climbing, kneeling, and standingBasic computer and keyboarding skillsMust be able to work safely around heavy machinery, tools, and moving equipmentStrong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detailBenefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending account options, 401(k) with employer match + profit-sharing contributions, paid time off and paid holidays, company-paid life insurance, ongoing technical training and professional development opportunitiesIf you are interested, please apply!
