Scala Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We have formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 3+ years of applied experience.
• We bring hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We are proficient in at least one programming language, with Scala, Java, and Python in that order of preference.
• We have strong big data and database skills.
• We have experience with AWS cloud services such as ECS, EKS, EMR, and Lambda.
• We understand data structures, algorithms, and efficient coding practices.
• We have experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment.
• We collaborate effectively with global teams across multiple time zones.
• We are self-starters who can engage with team members, users, and partner teams to deliver solutions.
• We are familiar with agile methods such as Scrum, along with CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We have demonstrated experience using approved AI-assisted software development tools and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We understand responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resilience and security expectations, and we can coach others on safe, compliant adoption.
• Preferred: We are familiar with Spark and distributed computing.

• We execute standard software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• We write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language with limited guidance.
• We design, develop, code, and troubleshoot while considering upstream and downstream systems and technical impacts.
• We use tools within the software development life cycle toolchain to improve automation value.
• We apply technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and resolve basic technical issues.
• We gather, analyze, and interpret large, diverse data sets to identify issues and support decision-making for secure, stable application development.
• We learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills to build secure, stable code and systems.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while maintaining validation standards and promoting reusable patterns across the team.
• We apply software development life cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to maximize automation benefits.
