Position Summary

The Platform Engineer is a member of the Data Platform Engineering team, which builds, operates, secures, and evolves HASI's enterprise data technology stack. The team owns the technology platforms that power the business — including Snowflake, Airflow, SQL Server, Power BI Service, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, Power Automate, Jupyter Hub, Business Objects, Kyriba, Sigma/Thoughtworks, and the broader data warehouse and metadata/catalog tooling ecosystem — not the business data or business logic that runs on top of them.

This role manages and enhances the platforms that data engineering relies on day to day, with primary focus on Snowflake, Airflow, and Microsoft Fabric. The Platform Engineer evaluates new and emerging technologies in the market, builds standard operating procedures (SOPs) for platform usage, and partners closely with the Data Engineering team to establish repeatable processes and code controls that make pipelines, models, and integrations reusable across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and continuously enhance the data engineering platform stack, with particular focus on Snowflake, Airflow, and Microsoft Fabric
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies in the market and recommend platform additions, replacements, or upgrades that improve capability, cost, or performance
• Author and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for platform usage, onboarding, and administration across the data platform toolset
• Partner with the Data Engineering team to define and implement new processes, coding standards, and code controls that promote reusability and consistency across pipelines and integrations
• Configure, administer, and tune Snowflake environments, including warehouses, roles, resource monitors, and access controls, to balance performance and cost.
• Build, monitor, and maintain Airflow orchestration environments, including DAG deployment standards, environment configuration, and job reliability
• Support and administer Microsoft Fabric workloads, ensuring proper configuration, capacity management, and integration with existing platforms
• Own platform automation and CI/CD pipelines used to deploy and promote platform changes across development, QA, and production environments
• Contribute to metadata and catalog tooling to improve data discoverability, lineage, and governance across the platform
• Monitor platform availability, performance, and cost, and proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users
• Support upgrades and lifecycle management of platform components, including patching, version upgrades, and deprecations
• Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain platform security controls, access management, and compliance requirements
• Document platform architecture, configurations, and standards to support operational maturity and knowledge sharing across the team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in platform engineering, data engineering, or data infrastructure roles
• Hands-on experience administering and optimizing Snowflake, including warehouse sizing, cost management, security, and performance tuning
• Experience building, deploying, and operating Apache Airflow environments and orchestrating production data pipelines
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern data platform/lakehouse technologies
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and practices for platform and infrastructure automation
• Working knowledge of SQL Server, data warehouse infrastructure, and cloud-based data storage and compute environments
• Understanding of metadata management, data cataloging, and data governance principles
• Exposure to additional platform tools such as Power BI Service, Power Automate, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, or Business Objects is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills across distributed and cloud-based data systems
• Ability to create clear documentation, SOPs, and standards that other engineers can follow
• Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively with data engineering, analytics, and security teams
• Self-starter who stays current with emerging data platform technologies and proactively recommends improvements

$108,000 - $164,000 a year

$108,000-$164,000 based on experience and location. In addition, HASI offers an annual bonus program; 401(k) with company match; an equity incentive program; comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits; paid time off for vacation, holidays, and sick days; and much more.
