JOB DESCRIPTION

Platinum Supplemental Insurance is a respected leader in the supplemental health insurance market, serving 17 states and over 70,000 customers. As an accountant in our Dubuque, Iowa, home office, you will be reporting directly to the CFO and will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. This is a full-time salaried position, working with a talented team of professionals. Here's What You'll Do in this Role: Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and balance sheet accounts Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed Support the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports Build and maintain Tableau dashboards to visualize financial data for leadership Leverage AI tools to automate routine tasks, enhance reporting accuracy, and surface insights Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Help coordinate information for external auditors during annual audits Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned Protect company values by maintaining a high level of confidentiality, ethics and professionalism Here's What You'll Need: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Tableau; experience with accounting software is a plus Comfort using AI tools and data analytic software to streamline reporting, analysis, and day-to-day accounting tasks (Claude and Tableau preferred) Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Effective written and verbal communication skills Benefits—Why People Like Working Here: Our offices close at 12 p.m. on Fridays, so your typical workweek looks like Monday–Thursday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. in the office and work from home on Friday 8 a.m.–12 p.m. It's a great way to start the weekend.
