Under general supervision, manages system activity to ensure the most efficient utilization of divisional resources; receives, provides critical/life-saving instructions to callers, and prioritize calls; dispatches unit as appropriate and ensures the prompt response and the safety and well-being of emergency units. Uses appropriate judgment in all situations. Works under stressful and time-restrictive conditions. Exercises good customer service techniques, such as listening, effective communications and problem solving. Communicates with public in a professional and responsive manner with handling calls; communicates and interacts effectively with others; attends required training to maintain current certification; performs other duties as required. Ability to speak clearly and concisely when receiving and transmitting information; ability to accurately and descriptively relay information while emergency situation is ongoing; ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor during emergency situation and work under stressful and time-restrictive conditions. High School Diploma/GED and some dispatching experience in multi-agency, public service communication environment with experience in operating communications equipment such as CAD, 911, UHF/VHF radio console, etc. Have good communication skills; participate in required training; may be required to type at a corrected rate of thirty-five words per minute.
