Job Title: Structural CAD/Revit Technician

Job Description

Join a collaborative drafting team in Indianapolis as a Structural CAD/Revit Technician, supporting engineers by developing detailed structural models and drawings for a wide range of building projects. You will work closely with an experienced Lead CAD/Revit Technician and project engineers, translating design specifications into high-quality construction documents for industrial, educational, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, agriculture, food and beverage, and utilities projects. Depending on project size and scope, you will contribute to multiple projects each week and play a key role in delivering accurate, coordinated, and constructible design documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain structural Revit models for building projects from schematic design through construction documents.

  • Produce structural drawings, plans, sections, details, schedules, and sheets in accordance with established standards and project requirements.

  • Collaborate with structural engineers, architects, MEP teams, and other disciplines to ensure thorough coordination across all project documents.

  • Assist in preparing and updating construction documents for new construction, renovations, and facility improvement projects.

  • Incorporate engineer markups, redlines, and design changes into Revit models and drawing sets accurately and efficiently.

  • Help identify and resolve model coordination issues, drawing inconsistencies, and constructability concerns throughout the design process.

  • Maintain organized project files, BIM standards, naming conventions, and documentation quality across the project lifecycle.

  • Support project teams during internal reviews, coordination meetings, and document submissions.

  • Participate in quality control efforts to ensure all deliverables are complete, accurate, and aligned with project objectives.

  • Assist in developing and refining structural BIM standards, families, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on Revit experience, with recent and strong utilization of Revit in a professional or academic setting.

  • Proven design experience in structural, architectural, MEP, or vertical construction/facilities-related fields.

  • Proficiency in developing and modifying structural Revit models and producing construction documents.

  • Ability to accurately interpret and incorporate engineer markups, redlines, and design changes into project documentation.

  • Strong understanding of structural design and construction documentation processes.

  • Experience working within BIM environments and adhering to BIM standards and workflows.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing complete, accurate, and coordinated drawings.

  • Effective collaboration skills for working with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD for structural or building design documentation.

  • Experience or coursework in structural engineering or related disciplines.

  • Familiarity with structural analysis concepts and their application in design documentation.

  • Exposure to industrial, educational, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, agriculture, food and beverage, or utilities projects.

  • Interest in contributing to the development and refinement of BIM standards, families, templates, and workflows.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to varying project sizes and scopes.

Work Environment

This role is based within an established engineering firm of approximately 40 team members across structural, site development, landscape architecture, and architecture disciplines. The team focuses primarily on structural engineering for a diverse portfolio of projects, including industrial, educational, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, commercial, agriculture, food and beverage, and utilities facilities. Work is performed in a typical consulting engineering office environment with cubicles and private offices, using Revit and AutoCAD as core design tools within a BIM-focused workflow. The company maintains a steady workload and offers a supportive culture with opportunities for hybrid work in the future, and some tenured team members working fully remote. The position is hourly with overtime pay at 1.5x for hours worked over 40 per week. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
