Job Description

This role supports machining operations in a production environment by driving continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles. The Manufacturing Engineer works cross-functionally with manufacturing teams and CNC personnel to improve processes, enhance productivity and quality, and support new product introductions while ensuring that cost, delivery, and performance objectives are consistently met.

Responsibilities

• Provide programming and engineering support for machining operations, including troubleshooting machining issues and assisting with tooling design for production.
• Develop and maintain routings, detailed work instructions, and visual work aids to support new product introduction and ongoing production.
• Partner closely with CNC operators and technicians to improve manufacturing processes, safety, quality, and productivity on the shop floor.
• Identify, justify, and implement cost reduction opportunities through automation, tooling enhancements, and process improvements.
• Lead the development, validation, and implementation of new production processes to support business and operational goals.
• Build business cases for capital projects, including new equipment, tooling, and machinery, and manage these projects from concept through execution.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting established cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
• Participate in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and value stream mapping.
• Support and implement employee-driven improvement ideas by incorporating shop floor feedback into process enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and improve existing machining and manufacturing processes to enhance reliability, throughput, and consistency.
• Stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and recommend appropriate applications within the facility.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong background in manufacturing engineering with hands-on experience in machining operations.
• Experience with CNC programming or editing and the ability to modify CNC programs as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and improve existing machining and manufacturing processes.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kanban, SMED, TPM, and flow optimization.
• Capital project management experience, including justification, planning, and execution of new equipment or tooling.
• Proficiency with CAD, CAM, or similar engineering tools used for design and manufacturing support.
• Familiarity with CNC machining processes, equipment, and tooling requirements.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to production personnel and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to process improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and provide responsive support to production operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or a related field.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and structured problem-solving tools.
• Experience with robotics and automation is a plus and can support advanced process improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to support employee-driven improvement initiatives and incorporate shop floor feedback.
• Interest in and ability to stay current with emerging manufacturing technologies and best practices.

Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in a manufacturing setting, working closely with CNC machines, tooling, and production equipment. The role involves frequent interaction on the shop floor with operators, technicians, and cross-functional teams to observe processes and implement improvements. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no regular overtime and no weekend work. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Saint Louis,MO.
