The 25-bed M43/M53 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehensive, high-acuity care for pediatric patients requiring medical/surgical treatment, transplant-related care, congenital heart services, and chemotherapy. These units care for children of all ages, delivering specialized, family-centered critical care in a supportive and collaborative environment. As a Registered Nurse on this team, you will partner with fellow caregivers to provide exceptional, compassionate care from admission through discharge. Nurses in this role engage directly with patients, families, and visitors, helping to ensure they feel supported, informed, and secure throughout the course of treatment.

\n M43 and M53 function as closely integrated units and may float between each other as operational needs require, supporting flexibility and continuity of care across the PICU.

A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation, 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am .

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

\n

\n
• Provide direct nursing care. 
\n

\n

\n
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  
\n

\n

\n
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  
\n

\n

\n
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 
\n

\n

\n
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
\n

\n

\n
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 
\n

\n

\n
• Educate patients and their families.   
\n

\n

 

\n

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

\n

\n
• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)   
\n

\n

\n
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)   
\n

\n

\n
• One year of current Acute Care RN experience 
\n

\n

\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 
\n

\n

\n
• If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment 
\n

\n

\n
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) through the American Heart Association is required at time of hire or within one year of hire for roles that support pediatric patients 
\n

\n

\n
• Will consider licensed military RN experience 
\n

\n

 

\n

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

\n

\n
• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)  
\n

\n

\n
• Pediatric ICU experience    

\n

\n

Physical Requirements:

\n

\n
• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
\n
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
\n
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
\n
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
\n
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
\n
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
\n
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
\n

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

\n

\n

Minimum hourly: $35.50

\n

\n

Maximum hourly: $55.60

\n
