Medical Director

Description: The Medical Director oversees medical aspects of participant care, ensuring clinical excellence. The role includes leading the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program. Responsibilities include policy development and the maintenance of medical policies, standards, and protocols. Supervision of Primary Care Providers and leadership within the community are essential functions. Position covers multiple programs in the area. Travel to sites is required, typically visiting one site per day within the region. Regular visitation to nursing homes and centers for participant care is necessary. Participation in provider on-call rotation is required. This position supervises Primary Care Providers and nurse case managers. The Medical Director will actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings. Medical expertise and guidance will be provided during these meetings. Duties include conducting intakes and assessments. Development of treatment plans and ensuring preventive care for participants is vital. The Medical Director will discuss each participant's medical conditions and prognosis with them and their caregivers. Coordination of care across various settings and promoting resource conservation is important. Healthcare programs will be supervised, and collaboration in nursing treatment plans is required. Responsibilities also include attending to emergency medical situations and providing timely interventions. Compliance with documentation standards and EMR optimization is expected. Leadership in advance care planning discussions is critical. Ensuring culturally sensitive practices will be a priority. Collaboration with consultants and pharmacists to optimize participant care is essential. Oversight of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program is required. Participation in grievance procedures involving medical care is also part of the role.
