This position is accountable for performing a wide range of shipping and receiving processes including incoming and outgoing shipments of product and keeping records regarding these transactions.

The starting hourly rate for this role is in $20.00 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
• Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
• Nails cover on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape using strapping machine.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damages items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Routes items to departments.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Mark inventory items with proper item numbers using labeling equipment.
• Make appropriate transactions in ERP system or shipping software.
• Lift and move items/packages to assigned location.

Education/Work Experience Requirements

• Minimum of a high school education and one year of factory related experience in shipping and receiving.
• Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
• Experience with shipping software and ERP shipping transactions.
• Experience using a forklift.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk and talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment.  The employees will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic.  The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.

Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills;

and interact with other employees, customers and vendors.
