Position Overview

As a Medical Assistant, you will work closely with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality, coordinated patient care.

This is a

combined front-office and back-office position

requiring strong clinical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and the flexibility to assist wherever needed.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with older adults, proficient with electronic medical records, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a busy outpatient practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Patient Care

Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and allergies.

Perform EKGs, ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing, spirometry, and other in-office diagnostic procedures.

Perform venipuncture, finger sticks, specimen collection, and CLIA-waived laboratory testing.

Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as authorized under provider orders, appropriate supervision, and applicable scope-of-practice requirements.

Assist providers with examinations, minor procedures, wound care, and dressing changes.

Perform and document geriatric screenings, including fall-risk, cognitive, and depression assessments, as directed.

Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition or adverse medication responses.

Front Office & Administrative Support

Greet patients, manage check-in/check-out, and maintain a welcoming reception environment.

Schedule and confirm appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits.

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.

Collect co-payments and patient balances and maintain accurate payment records.

Answer telephone calls, document messages, and coordinate communication with patients, pharmacies, specialists, and laboratories.

Scan and index medical records, manage incoming faxes, and assist with prior authorizations.

Clinical Operations & eClinicalWorks

Maintain accurate patient records using

eClinicalWorks (eCW) .

Document patient encounters, medications, procedures, and diagnostic results.

Assist with quality reporting, preventive care reminders, and care-gap closure activities.

Coordinate efficient patient flow and prepare examination rooms.

Clean, disinfect, stock, and organize examination and procedure rooms.

Maintain medical equipment, supplies, vaccine storage, and required clinical logs.

Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum

2 years of hands-on Medical Assistant clinical experience

in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or a related outpatient specialty.

Minimum

2 years of phlebotomy and injection administration experience .

Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS certification.

Demonstrated proficiency in patient intake, vital signs, clinical documentation, and routine office procedures.

Strong computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.

Ability to type at least 50 words per minute with minimal errors.

Excellent communication, organization, multitasking, and teamwork skills.

Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent).

Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Experience using

eClinicalWorks (eCW) .

Experience in geriatric care, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care.

Experience with EKGs, ABI testing, spirometry, and point-of-care laboratory testing.

Experience with insurance verification, scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations.

Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Work Schedule

Full-Time | On-Site | Burleson, TX

Monday–Wednesday:

7:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Thursday:

8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Friday:

7:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Saturday:

Hours to be determined, as needed

Occasional extended evening hours and coverage at multiple practice locations may be required. Schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

Compensation

We offer competitive hourly compensation based on experience, clinical proficiency, certification, and qualifications, along with a comprehensive employee benefits package.
