Nuclear Medicine Tech

Our client, a leading health system in Lakewood, CO, is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Tech to provide diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures for inpatients and outpatients through the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and the safe operation of imaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties directly involved in a variety of technical procedures in the application of radionuclides for the diagnosis, therapy, and treatment of disease, operating gamma camera/computer imaging systems, planar and SPECT and non-imaging equipment, producing quality diagnostic images and results for interpretation by a radiologist/nuclear medicine physician, and practicing all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA).
• Processes radiopharmaceuticals from receipt and preparation through administration and disposal in a safe and efficient manner.
• Prepares patients for exams, provides information and instruction to patients and/or families regarding the procedure, and responds to their physical and emotional needs.
• Observes patients and equipment during procedures and reports/documents unusual occurrences and records patients' conditions.
• Coordinates quality control procedures on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals according to department procedures and maintains records of quality control and radioactive materials for inspection by regulating agencies.
• Performs IV starts and contrast administration as required.

Requirements

• Required**
• High School Diploma or GED
• Registered Technologist, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine R.T. (N)(ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
• Licensed Radiology Technologist for those working at a Kansas site
• Preferred**
• Associate's Degree
• Bachelor's Degree
• One (1) year of nuclear medicine experience
• Cardiac Nuclear Medicine registration
• Positron Emission Tomography Registry, if applicable to entity

$37.59 - $63.31/hour
