Senior Manager - Software Development Engineering

Position Summary Senior Manager – Software Development Engineering at CVS Health Digital. Lead and grow engineering teams, define technical strategies and roadmaps, ensure successful project delivery, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Coordinate with stakeholders, allocate resources, and maintain alignment between business goals and technical solutions. Expectations for the Role Grow engineering teams by interviewing, recruiting, hiring, and continuously guiding, coaching, and mentoring engineers. Provide leadership for Analytic/Reporting initiatives leveraging ETL, SQL, Java, Microservices, open‑source frameworks, and Cloud. Collaborate with business partners, product owners, architecture, and other engineering teams. Define best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and query optimization. Promote proper implementation of SAFe process techniques. Provide support in all phases of SDLC and deliver high‑quality products. Recommend continuous improvement initiatives. Offer technical leadership, determining and developing approaches to solutions by coordinating multiple resources. Make informed decisions quickly, taking ownership of services and applications at scale. Understand the big picture while implementing at the detail level. Exploit analytical thinking to simplify complex problems and evaluate them systematically. Apply strategic thinking to create a vision and implement plans to achieve end goals. Provide technical guidance in software design and development activities. Advocate security best practices, champion compliance, and partner with security teams. Encourage a collaborative, open, and dynamic team culture that realizes individual and team potential. Required Qualifications 7+ years of overall IT/Digital development experience on enterprise‑class applications. 5+ years in a management role leading software development teams. 5+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams. 2+ years experience with programming languages/frameworks such as ETL tools, BI solutions, and Java. Preferred Qualifications Excellent knowledge of any SQL platform. Experience with Google Cloud Platform and other cloud technologies/platforms. Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies or CRMs. Good understanding of IT security best practices and compliance standards (ADA, HIPAA, PCIDSS). Experience in SAFe Agile environments; certification of SAFe for leaders is a plus. Strong business and technical vision with the ability to translate into actionable plans. Knowledge of the healthcare space, B2C and/or B2B. Experience leading medium‑to‑large diverse engineering teams across multiple locations. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience). Compensation The typical pay range for this role is: $118,450.00 – $284,280.00.
