Admissions Clerk- Evenings
Location: Port St Lucie Hospital
Position Summary
Port St Lucie Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Admissions Clerk to support the admissions process for patients entering our behavioral health facility. This role is responsible for insurance verification, pre-certifications, fax processing, and collaborating closely with nursing and admissions staff to ensure a smooth patient intake experience.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process incoming electronic and faxed admissions documents
Verify insurance coverage and communicate information to nursing and admissions teams
Complete insurance pre-certifications and document outcomes accurately
Maintain accurate documentation and properly close out S-Faxes
Time-stamp and organize incoming documentation
Assist with hospital codes and emergency situations as needed
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
Support departmental projects and additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
1–3 years of healthcare experience preferred, ideally in behavioral health or mental health
Experience with insurance verification and pre-certification processes preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party reimbursement programs
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
Primarily indoor, temperature-controlled healthcare environment
