Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction, Grades 9-12 Cambridge Rindge & Latin School – Cambridge, Massachusetts Starting Date: Immediately Job ID: 5799688 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Jun 24, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Job Categories: Administration > Assistant Principal/Dean/Head Job Overview The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction will report directly to the Principal and will work cooperatively with the Assistant Principal of Student Affairs, Deans of Curriculum, and Deans of Students to build a positive, effective school-wide climate and to develop and support student activities within a comprehensive program that enhances student engagement and achievement, thus helping all students meet Cambridge Rindge and Latin School academic, social, and civic learning expectations. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Provide instructional leadership centered on advancing educational equity, achieving instructional excellence, and closing identified opportunity gaps, fully aligned with the Cambridge Public Schools strategic plan, the CRLS School Improvement Plan, and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Collaborate with the CRLS Principal and Executive Director of the Rindge School of Technical Arts (Career & Technical Education) to extend opportunities within a comprehensive high school to ensure the proliferation of experiential learning and post‑secondary opportunities to all learners regardless of background or academic trajectory. Partner with department leads, including Special Education and Multilingual Learning, to work toward a more integrated experience for all students. Facilitate meetings of Deans of Curriculum to drive the implementation of high‑quality curriculum and instruction that supports student achievement and growth. Coach teachers on setting goals, designing lessons, analyzing student work, working collaboratively, and growing professionally. Promote a school culture of equity, belonging, and inclusion, including racial equity, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and support for diverse learning needs. Supervise and evaluate a caseload of staff. Design and lead professional development. Co‑coach the leadership team in consistent supervision and evaluation practices. Supervise the Enhanced Senior Year teacher and work closely with them to expand the program. Establish and maintain school‑wide expectations across multiple sections of common courses, including grading practices and learning experiences. Establish systems of communication, education, and support for the community to ensure stakeholders have a deep understanding of instructional focus and goals. Data Analysis Use software to source data and create graphic representations identifying areas of need. Support other building leaders in analyzing local, state, and national assessment data to improve student performance and disrupt inequities. Guide staff in data collection processes that facilitate effective formative assessment and instructional adjustments. Support the preparation for and administration of CPS surveys, including the Student & Staff Climate Survey. Standardized Testing Support the preparation for and administration of standardized testing at CRLS, including MCAS, PSAT, SAT, and AP. Appoint and supervise the Saturday SAT Coordinator. Supervise and evaluate the coordinator of standardized testing. Set proctoring schedules, testing locations, and calendaring of exams and related events in collaboration with the coordinator of standardized testing. Other Conduct evaluations and participate in hiring committees. Supervise a lunch period. Chair the CRLS Calendar Committee. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master’s degree with coursework in educational administration. Five years of teaching/administrative experience, preferably in a diverse urban, multicultural, multilingual setting. Required Massachusetts licensure/certification: Principal/Assistant Principal 9‑12. Deep understanding of dismantling inequitable systems in education. Familiarity and experience with a wide range of curricula and how to review curriculum and ensure use of HQIM. Understanding of diverse methods of instruction for all courses (from language & performing arts to science labs and Socratic seminars).
