Schedule Structure: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) 40 Hours per Week

Shift Hours: Mondays 12:00 PM 8:00 PM Tuesdays Fridays 8:00 AM 4:00 PM

Coverage Type: Medical Infirmary & Acute Primary Care (No Call)

Minimum Commitment: 26 Weeks

Credentialing Timeframe: Days

Position Highlights & Requirements

We are seeking a full-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) for an ongoing correctional medicine assignment in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior correctional experience is not required.

Licensure: Active Pennsylvania (PA) State Medical License required.
Certifications: Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine; active BLS required (ACLS preferred).
EHR System: TechCare.
Support Staff: Full daytime clinical team including Nursing staff, Advanced Practice Providers, Staff Physicians, and an onsite Medical Director.
Background Check Requirements: Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (PA State Police Check), and Act 73 (FBI Clearance) required during onboarding.

Clinical Scope & Daily Volume

Facility Population: 1,800 total incarcerated patients.
Infirmary Census: Averages low-acuity patients (evaluated weekly or as needed).
Duties: Managing infirmary beds, addressing acute clinical concerns, routine primary care encounters, and providing clinical leadership/supervision for APPs and support staff.
Basic Procedures: Standard primary care skills required (suturing, splinting, incision and drainage).
