About the Role Join MiniMed for a summer internship where you’ll do meaningful work, gain hands‑on experience, and make an impact on our mission to make every day a better day for people with diabetes. You’ll be part of a collaborative intern community, build your professional network, and gain exposure to opportunities that help you grow both personally and professionally. Our summer internships are full‑time (40 hours/week), paid positions lasting 10‑11 weeks. We offer competitive compensation, educational and social programming throughout the summer, as well as housing assistance and relocation support for eligible interns. Interns may support one or more engineering areas based on business need and candidate background. Examples of work in each area are listed below. R&D Engineer: Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development. Designs studies to investigate specific life science questions within field of expertise. Systems Engineer: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Electrical Engineer: Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Biomedical Engineer: Designs, develops and provides safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards. Mechanical Design Engineer: Researches, plans, designs, verifies, validates and develops mechanical and/or electromechanical products and systems, such as metals, instruments, controls, plastics, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, resonance, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Recommends various technology options or approaches for system, processes, facility or program improvements in terms of safety, performance, efficiency or costs. May be responsible for the transfer from R&D to manufacturing. Product Engineer: Responsible for production support engineering with respect to testing methods, procedures, and problems; device specification and yield problems; minor redesign of devices and masks; analysis of customer returns; supplier related engineering changes and optimizing device production relative to cost constraints. Assumes responsibility for device and/or internally produced or externally purchased components after transfer into high‑volume production and usually responsible for entire device manufacturing operations other than wafer fabrication. Test Engineer: Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Location & Work Model Engineering Internships are based in Northridge, CA. All interns must reside in the U.S. for the duration of the internship. Interns are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week and participate full time, 40 hours per week, as part of the intern cohort from June1 through August13 for semester system programs or June14 through August20 for quarter system programs. Minimum Requirements Working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with an anticipated graduation date of Winter2027, Spring2028, Winter2028, or Spring2029. Applicants for MiniMed’s Summer Internship Program must be currently authorized to work in the United States. MiniMed does not sponsor work authorization for internship positions. Individuals on temporary visa classifications, including E, F‑1 (CPT or OPT), H‑1, H‑2, L, B, J, or TN, as well as anyone who requires employment sponsorship now or in the future, are not eligible for MiniMed’s Summer Internship Program. Nice to Have A minimum 3.0 out of a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: C, C++, C#/.NET, SQL, Java, Python, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Visual Studio, CAD:SolidWorks/Autocad or equivalent, Minitab, MATLAB, Ardyubi/Raspberry Pi, LabVIEW. Prior work on projects in a team environment. Relevant academic project, internship, or lab experience. Technical writing skills. Experience with statistics, data analysis, or mechanical or electrical design. PR) locations (USD): The MiniMed Internship Program offers an hourly rate of pay that falls within the range of $26.50 to $45.25 per hour. The hourly rate offered will be determined by the position and is subject to variation based on the number of years of school completed. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). Regular employees working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for a robust benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as access to a Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, life insurance, long‑term disability leave, and a dependent daycare spending account.
