We provide a 5-day paid instructor training program to help you successfully transition into the classroom.Why consider teaching?Many skilled A&P mechanics and aviation technicians don't initially consider teaching—but those who do often find it to be one of the most rewarding paths in their career.At AIM, you'll:Share your real-world aircraft maintenance experience with future techniciansEnjoy more predictable schedules compared to field workMake a lasting impact on students entering the aviation industryContinue growing your own knowledge while developing othersAbout the roleAs an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA Part 147-aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands-on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs).This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical expertise with mentorship and training while delivering hands-on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments.Schedule optionsOption 1: Monday - Thursday: 6:30am - 4:30pmOption 2: Monday - Thursday: 1:30pm - 11:30pmOption 3: Thursday - Friday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm, Saturday - Sunday: 9:00am - 6:00pm (Option 3 includes +$5.00/hr shift differential)Key responsibilitiesTeach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environmentDeliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certificationDemonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation techniciansMaintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progressSupport curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadershipHelp create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environmentMaintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materialsQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociate degree in aviation or related field preferredExperienceMinimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experienceBackground as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)LicensureFAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate requiredSkillsStrong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance proceduresInterest in mentoring, coaching, and developing othersAbility to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environmentBasic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as neededWhat we offerWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package that supports your personal and professional well-being.
