Job Description About Us We are a high-volume, fast-paced immigration law firm managing a big asylum and removal defense portfolio. We litigate complex cases in front of some of the toughest Immigration Judges in the country. Our litigation team is aggressive, highly strategic, and deeply committed to our clients' defense. We are looking for a resilient Asylum Attorney to work directly with our senior asylum attorney. The Role This is a litigation trench. You will not be micromanaged, but you will be expected to deliver high quality legal work. You will step directly into active removal proceedings, handle hostile courtrooms, and manage complex asylum filings. You must be able to take a file, identify the legal strategy, and execute it independently. However our experienced attorneys will always be ready to help you. What You Will Do Removal Defense: Represent clients in Master and Individual Hearings before EOIR nationwide. Case Strategy & Drafting: Draft and review complex I-589s, legal briefs, motions (including Motion to Reopen , Motion for Continuance , Matter of H-A-A-V pretermission defenses), and evidentiary packets. Client Management: Conduct heavy client communication. You will prepare highly stressed, anxious, and sometimes difficult clients for intense cross-examination. Appellate Work: Preserve the record during trial and assist with drafting BIA appeals when judges commit reversible errors. Upward Delegation is Banned: You will work directly with our lead attorney. If you encounter a procedural roadblock or a novel legal issue, you are expected to research the precedent (e.g., 4th Circuit case law, BIA decisions) and bring a fully formed solution to the table, not just the problem. Open to Travel: You must be available to travel within the United States for appearances. Who You Are (Requirements) Litigation Skills: You have substantial, hands-on experience in Removal Proceedings and Asylum law. You know how to pivot when an Immigration Judge tries to weaponize the rules against your client. Bilingual (Strict Requirement): Fluency in both English and Turkish (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) is mandatory. You must be able to translate complex legal concepts to Turkish-speaking clients and conduct flawless legal advocacy in English. Emotional Intelligence: You must have the ability to maintain firm professional boundaries with traumatized clients while fiercely advocating for them in court.
