Step into a dynamic role supporting elementary-aged students in a K-5th grade group setting, where your skills as a paraprofessional will make a real impact. In this rewarding position located near Gorham, ME, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated team, including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), to provide positive behavioral support and encourage student success in a structured environment.
You’ll work closely with students who benefit from additional assistance, fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a behavioral education setting while contributing to students’ academic and personal growth.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Experience as a paraprofessional or in a support role within a behavioral or school setting
- Comfortable working with K-5th grade students in a group environment
- Understanding of behavioral interventions and strategies, or willingness to learn
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, RBTs, and staff
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
- Ability to follow individualized education and behavioral plans
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications are a plus
Responsibilities:
- Support students with behavioral needs in small group and classroom settings
- Assist with implementing behavioral intervention plans under staff guidance
- Contribute to a positive, structured, and supportive classroom culture
- Collaborate with teachers, RBTs, and other professionals to ensure student progress
- Monitor student participation and encourage positive social interactions
- Document student behavior and progress as needed
