Backwaiter

The teams behind Celestine and Grand Army are partnering with Ivy Mix — founder of Speed Rack, partner at Whoopsie Daisy, and formerly of Leyenda — and Chef Alan Delgado of Los Burritos Juarez to open a new upscale-casual Northern Mexican restaurant concept this summer. We are seeking talented Backwaiters with a minimum of 2 years NYC upscale casual dining experience to join our opening team. We hope to find candidates with the empathy, talent, passion, and the focus necessary to execute at the highest level while still offering relaxed, meticulous service in a beautiful environment.

As a Backwaiter your job responsibilities will include:

• Running food and drinks to correct tables and correct seat numbers
• Polishing, bussing, and resetting tables
• Being able to speak knowledgeably about our menu
• Assisting servers and bartenders with table maintenance 
• Maintaining a visibly calm demeanor at all times regardless of the pace of service
• Opening and closing side work as assigned by GM
• Deep cleaning or organization with team as directed by Executive Chef and GM
• Learn and assiduously follow all Department of Health (DOH) guidelines

Team Expectations

• Adhere to the schedule created by the GM; arrive on time and with a neat, clean appearance
• Be organized; take notes
• Be engaged in continuing staff education around food and beverages
• Be courteous, professional, and kind to guests and employees alike
• Be a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for details and ability to multitask
• Be open to feedback and notes for improvement
• Communicate responsibly and maturely; be open about any issues that may arise (internally or with guests) so that we can fix any problems that arise early on
• Be able to lift and or move 30 pounds as needed
