Medical Secretary/Medical Assistant- Bilingual

Multiple physician office is seeking an experienced and qualified Medical Secretary/Medical Assistant to join our collaborative team. The right candidate will be a self starter who has the ability to prioritize and adapt quickly to changes. This candidate should be bilingual in English and Spanish and maintains a passion for providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Accepts primary responsibility for phone response in an efficient manner, respectful of appropriate phone etiquette, to include: answering phones, relaying calls, taking and relaying messages, placing calls as directed, speaking clearly in a pleasant tone and contacting physicians in an appropriate fashion.
• Assists physicians with rooming patients and obtaining patient vitals.
• Scan incoming records from fax and mail.
• Enters all phone messages in EPIC, and makes appropriate notifications.
• Monitors the referral status for MNA patients
• Notify patients of their co-payment obligation and collect at time of clinic appointment.
• Responsible for scheduling appointments for MNA as well as maintaining the meeting calendars in EPIC for all physicians.
• Initiate prior authorizations for procedures and medications.
• Approve/deny prescription refills as appropriate.
• Update physicians daily on their schedules.
• Monitor the patient reception area insuring an orderly flow of patients to MNA.
• Enter patient profiles and updates into EPIC system.
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism in both appearance and presentation at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all matters of patient, physician and financial affairs.
• Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner according to the policies and procedures of Midwest Nephrology Associates.
