Some customers are happy with whoever answers the phone. Others ask for you. You remember their vehicle, explain what’s happening, and do what you said you would.  If that sounds like you and the customer relationships you enjoy building, we’d love to talk.

I’m Jake, owner of HTC Automotive in Boulder. We’re looking for someone to help customers at our evening service desk and spend the earlier part of the day bringing new business and fleet customers into HTC.

Some outside-sales experience is required. Service-advisor experience is a plus, and we can teach HTC’s advising process to someone with good sales knowledge and follow-through.

Your evening at the desk

• Answer phones and help customers who arrive at the shop.
• Listen to their concerns, gather useful information, and coordinate appointments and vehicle handoffs.
• Explain repair findings and estimates with the technical team’s support, and handle approvals through our service process.
• Keep customers informed and record the details the next person will need.
• Stay organized when a phone call, a waiting customer, and a repair update all arrive together.
• Coordinate with the day shift so repair status, customer commitments, and handoffs stay clear. 

Clear explanations and promises kept go a long way here. So does knowing when to get an answer before giving one.

Part of your day happens outside the shop

Earlier in the shift, you’ll visit local businesses, connect with the people responsible for their vehicles, and develop fleet repair and maintenance relationships. This is one hybrid position with both responsibilities from the start.

You need to be comfortable starting those conversations yourself, asking useful questions, recording what you learn, and following up. We want the same care you bring to the counter to carry into the field.

The schedule

The initial schedule is 1–9 p.m.: outside sales in the first part of the day, then front-office coverage from about 5 until the phones close at 9.

What makes you a fit

• Some outside-sales experience and the ability to earn business without pressure tactics.
• Clear explanations, attentive listening, and sound judgment with customers.
• Useful notes, reliable follow-up, and comfort learning CRM and shop software.
• The ability to manage interruptions and keep track of commitments.
• Willingness to travel locally and work the evening schedule.

Automotive knowledge and previous service-advisor experience are welcome. We’ll train you in HTC’s processes; bring the ability to listen, learn, and take responsibility.

Who you’ll work with

HTC is an independent, owner-operated repair shop. You’ll coordinate with our service advisors, diagnostic and quality-control foreman, and me. We depend on good information moving between the customer, the office, and the technicians.

Customers trust us with vehicles they need. We want them to understand the work and feel comfortable asking questions.

Pay and commission

Base pay covers both the service-advisor and outside-sales portions of your shift. Commission is earned on qualifying work from accounts you bring in during the written plan’s defined account time window.
