Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractor-trailers on regional over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, flatbed loads, or tanker cargo using appropriate manual handling techniques.
• Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to ensure timely deliveries within assigned routes while managing route driving schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers—including refrigerated trailers—and cargo to ensure safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
• Load and unload freight accurately, ensuring proper handling of dangerous goods and freight requiring special care or documentation.
• Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, delivery records, and compliance with FMCSA regulations.
• Communicate proactively with dispatchers regarding route progress, delays, or issues encountered during deliveries.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL with appropriate endorsements for refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or flatbed loads preferred.
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation—especially within regional routes—preferably with Hazmat certification.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading.
• Skilled in GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient delivery schedules.
• Ability to manually handle cargo safely and efficiently while complying with all safety guidelines.
• Experience operating manual transmission trucks is highly desirable.
• Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance; previous experience with tractor-trailers or specialty equipment such as tankers or flatbeds is advantageous.
