Job Title: Interim Category Manager - Events & Sponsorships (Global Marketing Procurement)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, results-driven Interim Category Manager to lead our Events & Sponsorships procurement vertical. In this high-profile role, you will immediately take ownership of active global RFP programs, drive them to successful commercial completion, and establish a long-term strategic roadmap for a complex, high-spend vendor ecosystem.

This is a strategic leadership mandate requiring a seasoned procurement professional who can navigate diverse stakeholder communities, drive board-level cost optimization, and transform a fragmented category into a structured, transparent, and high-performing strategic asset. You will act as a catalyst for change, defining the future operating and governance models for our global events and sponsorship landscape.

Key Responsibilities
RFP Delivery & Commercial Optimization
• Active Program Ownership: Immediately assume leadership of global RFPs within Events and third-party Sponsorships, driving the end-to-end process from scope definition to final contract execution.
• Commercial Negotiation: Lead high-stakes supplier negotiations and selection processes to deliver measurable, board-level cost savings and commercial value.
• Contracting Excellence: Execute complex service agreements and multi-year contracts, ensuring legal alignment, commercial compliance, and performance accountability.

Strategic Category Transformation
• Ecosystem Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive long-term category strategy, rationalizing the supply base and building strategic partnerships.
• Operating Model Design: Define and implement a future-proof operating model and global governance framework, bringing rigorous structure to a highly complex and fragmented supplier landscape.
• Change Leadership: Champion the adoption of new ways of working, procurement processes, and digital tools across a large, matrixed stakeholder organization.

Stakeholder Influence & Supplier Management
• Strategic Business Partnering: Engage as a trusted advisor to senior Marketing and business leaders; influence executive decision-making through clear, evidence-based analysis and strategic communication.
• Vendor Ecosystem Oversight: Establish a robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) model, defining Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and performance review cadences to drive continuous value, innovation, and ESG compliance.
• Digital Enablement: Leverage data, analytics, and digital procurement platforms to generate actionable insights and increase operational scalability.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: University degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPM) is highly desirable.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of 10+ years of strategic procurement experience with a specialized focus on Events & Sponsorships category management in complex, multinational environments.
• Technical Mastery:
oProven track record of successfully leading high-value global RFP/eRFX processes and multi-year vendor negotiations.
oDemonstrated success managing multi-hundred-million-dollar spend portfolios and delivering verifiable cost optimization outcomes.
oExperience designing and implementing global category strategies, including vendor ecosystem rationalization and new governance/operating frameworks.
oBackground in event/experiential agency operations (agency-side experience is a distinct advantage).
• Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical and synthesis capabilities; superior influence and executive communication skills; ability to lead cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams without direct authority; project management rigor in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Tools: Proficiency in digital procurement suites, data analytics platforms, and a forward-thinking approach to leveraging AI-enabled procurement intelligence.
