Senior Electrical EngineerIMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Urbandale, Iowa, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects as a project manager or lead engineer. In this role, you will guide electrical systems analysis, design, and implementation oversight while partnering with engineers and consultants to deliver effective solutions and positive client outcomes. You'll also support project budget goals, contribute to training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead electrical system design efforts for moderate to complex building projectsPerform engineering analysis, calculations, and detailed design documentation in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standardsConduct site assessments and prepare detailed technical analyses and reportsPartner with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationshipsReview electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and correspondence during production and apply IMEG quality control processesProvide technical support to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staffTrain, mentor, and motivate staff membersCollaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated project solutionsStay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices while contributing to research and innovation effortsPrioritize safety by identifying and mitigating risks associated with electrical systemsParticipate in project interviews and presentationsRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industryAdept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systemsKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam RevuAbility to mentor, train, motivate, and lead othersAbility to perform final quality control check in their area of expertiseAbility to sell work and develop client relationshipsStrong training and mentoring skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join Us IMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact.
