Job SummaryThe Manager of Research Security is tasked with developing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive research data and facilities from potential threats. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of security measures and compliance standards to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of research activities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
Responsibilities Job Duty 1 -
Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive research data and facilities from unauthorized access and threats.
Collaborate with Information Technology and research teams to integrate security protocols into research processes and technologies. Job Duty 3 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Job Duty 4 -
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and identify areas for improvement. Job Duty 5 -
Monitor security incidents and breaches, conduct thorough investigations and coordinating response efforts to mitigate risks. Job Duty 6 -
Provide training and awareness programs for employees on security best practices and the importance of safeguarding research information. Job Duty 7 -
Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement and security agencies to enhance the organization's security posture and response capabilities. Job Duty 8 -
Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risks, and compliance to senior management and relevant stakeholders. Job Duty 9 -
Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to improve the organization's overall security infrastructure. Job Duty 10 -
Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to research security to ensure compliance and best practices. Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three or more years of relevant experience, including one or more years of supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the non-profit applied research arm of Georgia Tech. This position is located in the Colorado Springs Field Office, and serves as the Facility Security Officer (FSO), with duties performed approximately 10% FSO and 90% SCIF/SAPF:
- Candidate will need to demonstrate keen knowledge as an FSO along with a SAP/SCI background for day-to-day operations. SAP/SCI (Special Access Program/Sensitive Compartmented Information) Security to lead and oversee all security-related disciplines for SAP and SCI programs.
- Advanced knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), DCSA Requirements, ICD regulations, and other relevant manuals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ICD 704 and 705, SEADs, NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117), and DoD/IC security directives.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders, including senior executives and government representatives DISS, NBIS, SIMS, and Scattered Castles
SKILLS
working knowledge of the requirements contained in the DoD National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual; require thorough knowledge of JPAS, ISFD, SIMS and Microsoft office products; superior verbal and written communications skills;
