Test and measure patient strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency; record findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Plan and prepare written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data. Administer manual and therapeutic exercises to improve and maintain function, strength, ROM, flexibility, and cardiovascular function. Instruct, motivate, and assist patient in performing activities to achieve functional goals; use assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and prostheses. Apply physical agents and modalities (hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TNS, dry needling) as part of treatment. Evaluate effects of treatment, adjust to achieve maximum benefit. Administer massage and traction to relieve pain. Record treatment, response, and progress in chart or computer system. Instruct patient and family in home continuation of treatment procedures. Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices; recommend modifications to orthotist. Communicate with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional information, suggest treatment revisions, and integrate care. Orient, instruct, and direct activities of assistants, techs, and students. Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy for staff, students, and community groups. Plan and develop research programs; participate in research. Consult and collaborate with other health professionals. Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants or techs. Qualifications Active and current Physical Therapist license in the state of practice. Passed National Physical Therapy Exam; fulfilled state requisites such as jurisprudence exam. Graduate of a CAPTE‑accredited physical therapy program. Knowledge of ReDoc Database software, internet software, Microsoft Excel, and Word; basic email skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate; desire to help patients. Willingness to work occasional weekend shifts.
