Technical Documentation Specialist Navy Logistics Programs Port Hueneme, CA Job Description Perform technical editing of manuals according to MIL-DTL-24784D in MS Word/Adobe PDF/FrameMaker, including proofreading, analysis, redlining, troubleshooting, and lifetime management within Windchill/MBPS-Model Based Product Support. Perform technical editing of manuals according to S1000D in MS PTC Arbor Text, including proofreading, analysis, redlining, and troubleshooting. Develop S1000D technical manuals by applying elements to XML data modules based on Business Rules and S1000D issue specifications. Develop/revise programs, code, and scripts in XML, VBA, JavaScript, ArborText Command Language, and Python to automate authoring, data management, IETM publishing, and database maintenance. Perform drawing management and assessments to support documentation planning and schedule execution. Conduct root‑cause investigations and author papers on fleet technical feedback to recommend corrective actions. Provide analysis support for engineering data to maintain configuration control of hardware and software for existing configurations, new releases, change requests, and defect reports. Investigate technical issues and recommend improvements to increase fleet readiness and sustainability. Support analysis and tracking of engineering inputs and metrics, including: Performance and organizational management metrics Program resource support plans Integrated Master Schedules Program briefings and technical papers Advocate continuous improvement of processes by analyzing and revising data and standard operating procedures. Provide graphics editing using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or AutoCAD. Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel with Pivot Tables, Gantt Charts, Formulas; Word; Project; PowerPoint; Outlook). Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. High School Diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated experience in technical writing/editing and/or support for the US Navy. Desired Qualifications Application troubleshooting skills. Three to six months experience with markup languages. Active Secret security clearance. Security Clearance Applicants may be required to have an active security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements.
