Patient Care Tech (PCT) – Medical Surgical (Full‑Time / Nights) Work location: Texas Health Southlake, 1545 E Southlake Blvd, Southlake, TX 76092 Work hours: Full-Time, Nights, 7PM–7AM Medical Surgical Department Highlights 23 bed post‑surgical unit Fast‑paced unit with multidisciplinary team Teamwork: you are never alone, and patient safety is a top priority Here’s What You Need H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required One year of PCT experience in an acute care setting preferred PCT Training Program: TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program, or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification after hire. EMT: Emergency Medical Technician; military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT‑B) required upon hire. Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program required upon hire. 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification required upon hire. BCLS: Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required. CPI: Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually; 90‑day completion required. Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast‑paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills. Nursing Students who do not complete a course of study in nursing but have completed Fundamentals Training, or EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status, may continue in the role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position. What You Will Do Patient Care Techs provide an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site under the direction of nursing staff. Duties include basic patient care such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, moving patients, and changing linens. May transfer or transport patients. Includes nursing care attendants, nursing aides, and nursing attendants. Essential Functions – CARE OF PATIENT / TECHNICAL SKILLS Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care. Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse. Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge. Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently. Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable. Documents accurately and appropriately. In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population. In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care. Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment. Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
