Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced  Armed Security Supervisor to oversee security operations throughout multiple commercial properties located in Downtown Norfolk's Central Business District. This is a highly visible leadership position requiring extensive foot patrols between buildings, direct interaction with clients and tenants, and oversight of security personnel assigned to the account.

The Armed Security Supervisor will serve as the primary on-site leader, ensuring officers maintain professional standards, client expectations are exceeded, and all security operations are conducted safely and effectively.

This position is primarily a  walking/foot rover assignment and requires the ability to patrol multiple buildings and city blocks throughout the shift.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise and support security officers assigned to multiple downtown properties
• Conduct frequent foot patrols throughout assigned locations
• Ensure all officers comply with company policies, post orders, and client requirements
• Perform site inspections and quality assurance checks
• Respond to incidents, emergencies, disturbances, and alarm activations
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and shift coverage
• Train, mentor, and evaluate security personnel
• Maintain professional relationships with property management, tenants, and visitors
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client concerns during assigned shifts
• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency services when necessary
• Ensure proper documentation of all incidents and daily activities
• Conduct access control and security audits as needed

Physical Requirements

This is an active supervisory position and is not a stationary post.

Applicants must be able to:

• Walk for extended periods throughout the entire shift
• Patrol multiple buildings and city blocks on foot
• Frequently climb stairs
• Stand for prolonged periods
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Quickly respond to emergencies and incidents
• Lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Virginia DCJS Armed Security Officer Registration
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation
• Minimum 2 years of security experience
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Strong report-writing and communication skills
• Professional appearance and leadership presence
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
• Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Military, Law Enforcement, or Security Management experience
• Experience supervising officers across multiple locations
• CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
• Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
• Experience in commercial office, corporate, or downtown security environments

Shift

This position is 7 days a week 7am-3pm
