MRI Technologist

Job Summary Your job is more than a job. The MRI Technologist performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position involves applying prescribed magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosis, with autonomy and initiative. A sign‑on bonus of $10,000 is included. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Perform technical aspects of MRI/MRA, selecting correct acquisition parameters, and demonstrating quality and proficiency. Conduct daily calibrations and record results. Select appropriate coil to reduce noise, increase signal, and maximize resolution. Review physician orders with the radiologist to ensure proper examinations and diagnostic results. Ensure patient safety, assess condition, and determine proper handling and special requirements. Obtain and review patient history, explain procedures to patients/families, and answer questions to ease anxiety. Recognize clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with the exam and take appropriate action. Administer parenteral contrast agents safely and with job knowledge. Acquire and evaluate patient lab values (BUN, CR, pregnancy, glucose) to confirm they are within normal limits. Disinfect and maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas; check for hazards or malfunctions daily and report dangerous conditions. Maintain supply levels and conduct quality control checks. Practice aseptic techniques and adhere to hospital policy on body substance isolation. Input and verify all data in PACS/RIS. Observe and monitor patient vital signs and medical equipment during procedure. Qualifications Radiography Certification (ARRT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Radiology Technician (MRI) (ARRT (MRI)) – Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) – American Heart Association.
