Job Description: SimpliFi Interview Position is for MS RN in the ED Hold area

About Facility:

• 492 Beds
• Level II Trauma Center
• Level III NICU
• Primary Stroke Center

General Information:

• Beds: 67 Beds in the ED – MS Holds beds will be allocated. Quick turnover! Will get a bed and then get a new assignment.
• Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? Yes
• Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes with at least 2 years' experience and Cerner OR EPIC (EMR) experience with level II Trauma

Patient Types:

• CHF exacerbation
• TIA vs. CVA rule out
• GI/GU
• Weakness/dizziness
• Chest pain

Patient Ratios: 1:5

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS, NIHSS, CPI or similar required, ACLS preferred

Skills required:

• Looking for a MS RN, not a ER RN. 18 months of MS experience. Will not expect ER experience that floats to MS.
• ED experience not required, preferred. This will be a MS assignment.
• Assessment, prioritization, communication and documentation skills. IV starts, blood administrations.
• Teaching facility experience preferred.
• Suctioning, O2 Therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, External catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, falls prevention management, restraints
• Will be in the ER area but caring for Med Surg patients with admission orders.
• Important to realize the needs during transitions from ER to MS inpatient

Orientation:

• Travelers who are new to the facility or return travelers who have been gone for 1+ years will have 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit
• Rehires: orientation will depend on last date here

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule
• On call? No
• Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
