Clinical Coordinator, Emergency Medical Science

Overview Pay Grade: Professional 6 The position is responsible for the planning and coordination of student clinical instruction experiences. Responsibilities Serves as liaison for the Administrative Department Head and the EMS faculty, with affiliating clinical agencies; maintaining ongoing communications to discuss, arrange, and improve clinical rotations/experience. Initiate and maintain clinical contracts with all clinical agencies and review and update contracts as needed. Communicate with course coordinators regarding clinical needs and placements, coordinate clinical education, and evaluate its effectiveness. Maintain a library of current clinical contracts in the Platinum Planner system to be accessible to the School Administrator. Request clinical sites/observation experiences from clinical agencies and make periodic site visits to assure adequacy of clinical instruction and experience. Verify that all agency credentialing requirements for EMS faculty and students are met per each agency contract and keep records current and retrievable; provide audit information to requesting agencies for all prerequisites. Evaluate students to ensure adequate clinical experience and verify completion of clinical requirements for final testing of TSOPE and written exams. Participate in didactic and/or clinical instruction as needed. Participate in overall program evaluation to maintain compliance with the Committee on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Science Programs (CoAEMSP). Compile and analyze enrollment data in preparation for clinical site requests to project need for part‑time faculty and assess completion rates. Attend clinical agency planning meetings and maintain current affiliations and develop new affiliations to meet program needs. Assist with hiring, evaluation, performance management, and professional development of full‑time or part‑time radiography faculty. Conduct clinical instructor/preceptor observations to evaluate instructional effectiveness. Correlate clinical education with didactic education. Oversee EMS Bloodborne Pathogen Program (BBP), handle student exposure and reporting process. Support the program director to assure effective program operation. Participate in assessment processes. Collaborate with program leadership to periodically review and revise clinical course materials. Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress. Actively participate in departmental meetings and assist with planning. Serve as a member of the EMS advisory committee. Maintain regular office hours. Assist with tracking completion or reentry of students in the EMS program. Assist in the orientation of students in EMS clinical courses. Instruct all Curriculum Clinical courses (10 CU Credit Hours) over four semesters. Manage clinical student and site issues as needed, including nights and weekends. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently on a wide variety of professional tasks. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to deal effectively with college staff, faculty, students, and community members. Ability to work with a diverse student population to help them reach their maximum potential. Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising. Requirements Associate's degree. Level I NCOEMS BLS Instructor. Two years of experience teaching in a post‑secondary education environment. Credentialed North Carolina paramedic or National Registry Paramedic with eligibility for reciprocity to obtain a North Carolina Paramedic credential. Preferences Bachelor's degree. Five years teaching experience in a post‑secondary educational environment. Experience with clinical coordination and Platinum Planner. North Carolina EMT‑Paramedic Level‑II Instructor Certification or equivalent.
