Job Number: 179725, Job Title: Financial Counselor - Ben Taub, Salary: $21.49 - $27.40 Job Summary Performs quality control for Observation, Inpatient, and Outpatient Surgery accounts, ensuring all pertinent information is documented for timely and efficient billing. Accurately validates patient demographics and verifies insurance, determining all available funding sources. Collects co-pays/deductibles and resolves outstanding financial issues prior to discharge. Scans patients for third-party liability and assists them with related applications. Routes third-party applications to the appropriate location. Evals required documents for Medicaid, Harris Health FAP, Crime Victims, and assists with submitted Medicaid applications. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree or 2 years of college preferred. Minimum 3 years of progressive customer service experience or 2 years of hospital patient accounting experience as a financial counselor, collector, registrar, or customer-service related capacity preferred. Must have PC skills, knowledge of computerized patient accounting/registration and eligibility systems, facsimile operation, Medifax, photocopier, and FSS system. Communication skills: above average verbal (heavy public contract), bilingual preferred, writing/composing (correspondence/reports). Other skills: analytical, mathematics, PC, MS Word, MS Excel. Work schedule: weekends, flexible.
