The hourly range for this position is $25.89 to $27.38 and is commensurate with experience. Job Overview The Dental Assistant assists dentists with procedures and daily duties. The Dental Assistant also provides dental care and education to patients. Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week) Requirements HS/GED; 1-2 yrs experience in a Dental clinic Preferred Associate's Degree; 2-5 yrs experience in a Dental clinic Required License/Certification CPR/First Aid Dental Assistant Certification from the District of Columbia Department of Health Expected Contributions - Dental Care/Administrative Prep work area for dental procedures Assist the dentist with all procedures Maintain dental equipment and instruments Maintain a sterile and non-contaminated work environment Stock supplies, materials, medications, and equipment, as needed Ensure proper functioning of all equipment Provide dental education to patients and demonstrate proper dental care Document patient dental issues Schedule patient follow-up appointments Assist with administrative duties, as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Knowledge of dental care and terminology Patient care skills Time management skills Knowledge of EHR dental‑specific software programs Customer service skills with patients Good listening skills to identify patient needs Organized with an attention to detail Ability to communicate with diverse audiences Excellent verbal and written communication skills Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills Conflict resolution skills Ability to be effective in a team environment Ability to multitask, despite competing priorities Reports To Director of Dentistry Position Designation This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana. Physical Demands This position is in a clinic setting. This clinic and office may or may not include individual heating and air conditioning controls. This space may or may not include a window.
