The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees the receiving, storage, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing products ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so that all food is located and distributed in an effective and efficient manner to satisfy internal and external requirements. This position safeguards and promotes the Foodbank’s commitment to food safety and AIB compliance. The Supervisor works to create an efficient schedule of activities that include the unloading and receipt of inbound deliveries (Feeding America National, State, Federal and Purchase products), local donations secured through the Foodbank’s fleet, shipping activities for product sharing with other Foodbanks, organizing product transfers with Canton Distribution team, and distribution activities for direct distribution orders, drop site orders, agency direct deliveries, and MarketPlace deliveries. This position requires a high degree of integrity, leadership, and urgency in all related matters; accurately records and maintains metrics; fully supports the departmental operations; supervises staff ensuring operational efficiency and productivity; maintains the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank standards and supports the overall mission of the organization. This position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager with responsibility to serve in a leadership capacity to the Shipping and Receiving team. Shift M-F, 7am – 3pm. Hourly rate: $21.50-$23.50 per hour Job Responsibilities Supervise the shipping and receiving team which includes timecard approvals, daily performance management, and compliance with Occupational Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) regulations and American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards. Champion the Foodbank’s Vision, Mission and Core Values ensuring that the Shipping / Receiving team embodies these core values as a Foodbank employee. Partner and collaborate with warehouse organizers and leadership to ensure put away plan aligns with inbound and outbound schedule of activities including organization with dry cooler and freezer spaces. Ensure the integrity of all products received at the Foodbank through adherence to standard operating procedures. Partner with the Distribution office team to ensure accurate receipt, descriptions and counts are completed in compliance with the Foodbank’s SOP’s. Ensure completion of related paperwork and submit to the Distribution Office for pallet tag generation. Proper placement of pallet tag on pallet and product is scanned into its proper location. Accurately document receipts of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ohio Food Program (OFP), Ohio Agricultural Clearance Program (OACP), Feeding America and purchased product. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Monitors the unloading of all donated products. Warehouse personnel receiving the shipment shall inspect the condition of the load and vehicle before unloading. Ensure the trailer is secured safely prior to unloading. (Chock wheels, glad handlock deployed). Ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection Ensures receiving reports accurately report material received Resolves discrepancies regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports Monitors the flow of paperwork from Receiving to Inventory Control for timely data entry Oversees the movement of product from Receiving to the Warehouse in an efficient and safe manner Manage and coordinate monthly outbound innovative distribution activities (non-agency order pick-up) On-time, safe selection and loading of products Ensure accuracy of agency order and appropriate labeling Coordinate the logistics to ensure accurate scheduling of truck delivery with respective leadership and partners Active leadership role in the weekly Inventory Management meeting to review incoming loads and capacity issues in Dry, Cooler and Freezer storage areas Oversee and report the storage of food and non-food products stored on Foodbank trailers. Ensure SOP’s are followed related to Primarius receiving and safety compliance requirements. Assist Warehouse Manager with daily and weekly cycle counts, audits, year-end physical inventory and any other inventory tasks as required Perform other duties, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience supervising all aspects of shipping and receiving temperature critical food (frozen, cooler, and dry) or equivalent supervisory experience in a warehouse environment. Must be able to follow all American Institute of Baking, Feeding America, Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, and Foodbank (standard operating procedures and employee handbook) safety regulations. Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative to accomplish goals. Strong knowledge of Receiving, Warehouse, and Material Handling operations, methods, and practices. Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to define problems and move to resolution. Ability to manage multiple and complex projects. Ability to develop personnel and processes to support present and future operations. Strong supervisory skills, verbal and written communication skills, judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and or situations. Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all levels both in and out of the organization. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties. Computer skills with experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to operate or be trained to operate a pallet jack and/or tow motor. Employee may be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends as warranted. Employee will be expected to attend required training or seminars as designated.
