Job Opportunity

Position Overview

This role requires a dedicated professional with current national medical assistant certification and at least one year of urgent care experience within the last two years. The position involves providing healthcare services to a diverse patient population in an ambulatory care clinic.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately collect and document patient information, ensuring records are up to date.
• Maintain patient medication and immunization records.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to signs or symptoms that require prompt intervention.
• Transport patients within the facility as needed.
• Manage patient care duties effectively to maintain clinic flow.
• Report and document any observed changes in patient conditions or safety incidents.
• Prepare exam rooms and assist with routine examinations and minor procedures.
• Conduct specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT) as per protocol.
• Assist with radiology exams if competencies are met.
• Provide immunizations and injections as directed by the provider.
• Assist providers in identifying patients who are overdue for immunizations.
• Participate in cross-coverage for peers and participate in staff meetings and unit goal setting.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
• Nursing Degree from an accredited institution may fulfill the above requirements.

Experience

• Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting.

Skills and Knowledge

• Understanding of clinic procedures related to patient visits, treatments, and procedures.
• Ability to assess age-appropriate vital signs and behaviors.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and adeptness in using various computer programs.
• Competency in operating medical equipment, including blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Capable of recognizing and responding to emergency situations effectively.

Working Environment

The work environment is generally moderate in noise level and includes both office and healthcare settings. Employees may be exposed to controlled temperature environments and may encounter situations involving bodily fluids.

Physical Demands

The position requires regular communication, standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks. Employees may occasionally need to lift or transport patients and may frequently lift up to 25 lbs.

Safety and Compliance

The employee must adhere to safe work protocols, promptly report accidents or equipment defects, and cooperate during safety investigations.
