Material Handler

Warehouse PositionPerforms tasks essential to agricultural operations at a wholesale warehouse. Familiar with all aspects of location/warehouse duties. Packs, loads, and unloads products for orders using multiple forms of equipment including forklift, blender, etc. Cleans and organizes storage areas, assists with cycle counts, and maintains a safe, clean work area.Essential Functions:Follow all safety regulations and guidelinesHandle and store hazardous materials (pesticides, fertilizers, chemicals) in compliance with safety regulationsUse appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, protective clothing) when working with hazardous materialsEnsure correct labeling, secure storage, and proper segregation of hazardous materialsRegularly inspect and maintain safety equipment; know their locations for emergenciesPerform regular warehouse duties, including product storage, staging, and baggingDrive a forklift to transport inbound and outbound productsOrganize products following local proceduresFollow a logical sequence for loading and unloading trucks/rail cars, and hand palletize finished productsLoads/unloads pallets (e.g., pulling and placing bags on pallets, operating bag machinery)Pull orders according to purchase order requestsDouble check orders to ensure accuracy; verifier may be needed based on experienceEnsure all equipment is in good working condition; report discrepancies to site leadershipUse forklift, and other equipment in daily job dutiesAssist in equipment maintenance and associated dutiesMaintain a quality and professional image with customers; be responsive to their needsClean warehouse and site for a welcoming and safe working environmentWorks with and assists other employees with various duties, as assigned by the supervisorEmbody GreenPoint Ag Vision, Mission, Values, and Goals in daily work, contributing to a strong company cultureRequired Qualifications:Specific position/site qualifications and progression may apply, consult with Human ResourcesHigh School graduate or GED; may be offset by experienceSpecific site qualifications and progression may apply. Proficiency in job and behaviors that align with GreenPoint Ag Core Values (i.e. teamwork – helping other employees) are large considerations, consult with local team.Skill Level I – Entry level, 0 years of experienceSkill Level II – 1+ years of experience; Familiar with all aspects of warehouse duties and fully capable of pulling and preparing orders without assistance, while having verification by another employee, unload and load out orders while having verification by another employeeSkill Level III – 2+ years of experience; Fully proficient as level I and II, proficient in all aspects and areas of warehouse duties, pulls orders, loads, and unloads without verification correctly, verifies other employees orders are correct, trains other employeesMust possess a valid driver's license; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policyExperience in agriculture environment preferredExperience working in a warehouse environment (e.g., product storage, product staging, etc.) preferredExperience driving a forklift (e.g., performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, lifting, and lowering boom, maneuvering in tight areas without damaging products, etc.) preferredExperience working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets (e.g., pulling and placing pallets on/off vertical product racking systems and trucks, maximizing storage by stacking products vertically, etc.) preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must be able to regularly lift 50 poundsSelf-reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervisionAbility to ensure a safe working environment while performing assigned tasksCustomer focused and able to work in a collaborative teamAbility to be flexible in work performed and scheduleAbility to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills (preferred)Trained or be able to operate lift truck if requiredSelf-motivated and able to perform cleanup around the work areaAbility to communicate and work effectively with team members and customersSuccessful hire must also be able to demonstrate the following competencies: acts with integrity in products, processes, and relationships; delivers results efficiently & effectively; embraces role as an individual contributor to the warehouse teamWork Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse or outdoor agricultural setting. Employee will regularly encounter extreme temperatures, adverse weather, dust, loud noises, and a hazardous agricultural and/or industrial environment that requires regular use of PPE.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Needs to stay in good physical condition to regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance activities, and assist other plant/warehouse workers in various physical duties necessary in running an agricultural location. Employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel and grasp. Must be able to work at heights between 45-65 feet from a catwalk, while using proper harness personal protective equipment on occasion to maintenance fertilizer conveyer. Workload is frequently medium to heavy.
