UTILITIES WATER FIELD HELPER

City of Riverside Public Utilities Department (RPU) is accepting applications for the position of Utilities Water Field Helper to fill one vacancy in the Water Division. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months. Responsibilities Work with and assist journey level workers in cutting, fitting, laying, repairing, cleaning, and flushing of water mains. Assist journey level workers in installation, maintenance, and repair of services, valves, and hydrants. Use various hand and power tools and perform minor maintenance on them. Operate a truck, perform minor servicing and report mechanical problems; keep the truck supplied with materials and supplies. Assist in setting up traffic and pedestrian controls at work sites. Education High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED). Experience Six months experience in heavy manual work, preferably in water system construction and maintenance. Special Requirements Possession of an appropriate, valid class C California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Possession of a valid Class A California Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator's License with tank truck endorsement within twelve (12) months of appointment.
