Job Title: Ultrasonographer Department: Medical Imaging Location: Massena Hospital – 1 Hospital Drive, Massena, NY 13662 Schedule: Mon - Fri; Variable – 7 am‑5 pm, 8 am‑6 pm, 9 am‑7 pm, and occasionally 1 pm‑11 pm. On‑Call: From 11 pm Friday until 11 pm Sunday every 3rd to 4th weekend. SUMMARY Performs high quality ultrasound imaging. Assists in the daily routines of the ultrasound department. Assists the RN and physician in interventional procedures. Coordinates and evaluates the daily schedule, fitting in additional exams. Complies with the professional and ethical standards of the American Association of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. RESPONSIBILITIES Performs ultrasound procedures on patients in accordance with physician orders. Assists the physician during ultrasound procedures requiring the physician’s presence. Lifts and moves patients with assistance. Labels and processes all studies correctly to assure prompt and quality medical care. Notes pertinent clinical information. Operates all stationary and mobile X‑ray equipment available to the Medical Imaging department, except for the ultrasound and C.T. equipment. Notifies supervisor of equipment deficiencies. Develops X‑rays and assists in maintaining processing equipment by assuring that chemical solutions are kept at prescribed levels. Assures the continued and safe operation of all equipment assigned to the ultrasound department. Notifies supervisor of any deficiencies. Assures a sufficient level of supplies required for an ultrasound departmental operation. Notifies supervisor of shortages in a timely manner. Assists in the training of student X‑ray technologists. Is responsible for their actions with regard to patient care. Assists in the training of staff radiological technologists assigned to the specialty area of ultrasound. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Registry with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT within 12 months of hire. Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program or graduate of a two‑year allied health education program that is patient‑care related (e.g., radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist or registered nurse with one year completion of documented ultrasound clinical experience/employment) or graduate of a non‑CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program with one year full‑time documented ultrasound experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Registered sonographer with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT. UNION CSEA – Civil Service Employees Association (MH). Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible. EDUCATION Not specified. LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS Not specified. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Medium work. Exerts 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10–25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full‑time applicant. It may be modified in the future and is eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
