Chief Security Officer

Position Overview Must be local to OKC or willing to relocate. This position requires on‑site presence five days per week (not hybrid or remote). Serve as the executive responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and management of AFA’s security strategies and programs. Responsibilities Oversee and strategically implement/coordinate Cyber, Physical and Digital Security by providing an integrated security governance infrastructure. Work with Executives, Information Technology, Business Units, the Property Company, and Human Resources to establish policies and procedures that advance, automate, and monitor the integrated security approach. Ensure the security function adds value to the business and provides a competitive advantage within the organization’s strategic plans, budget directives, and prioritization. Forge strong and secure relationships between departments to enable smooth operations free from security vulnerabilities and friction. Investigate and resolve security incidents and related ethical issues in a fair, objective manner aligned with the organization’s values and code of business conduct. Facilitate the use of traditional and advanced scenario‑planning techniques to assess risks and threats. Promote organizational learning and knowledge sharing through internal and external resources aligned with the company culture. Participate as part of the senior management team in planning and capital expenditures. Develop organization‑wide security awareness appropriate for the business and the culture. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university required; Master’s degree preferred. Area of study: Law, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Security Management, Information Systems Management, and/or Criminal Justice. At least 3–5 years of direct experience in a significant leadership role. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage the functional capital and expense budget. At least 10–15 years of experience in private sector corporate security or related public‑sector organization. Additional Requirements Certification in security or related disciplines preferred. Strategic orientation with the ability to act tactically when required. Proven success in a matrix‑management environment. Global perspective and multi‑cultural understanding. Solid focus on detail. Excellent conceptual and critical‑thinking skills. High integrity and emotional maturity. Strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus‑building skills. Sound understanding of process‑management principles. Ability to interact at all organizational levels with sensitivity to divisional/organizational management issues. Change‑agent mindset and competencies. Skills and Competencies Communicate effectively with senior executives, the Board of Directors, and operating committees. Understand the business’s strategic direction and intertwine security needs with its objectives. Establish a vision for global and business‑specific security programs and build support for implementation and ongoing development. Assess the impact of economics, geopolitics, organizational design, and technology changes on potential threats and risks. Be politically astute yet not politically motivated.
