The Company: Pulmonary Associates of Richmond (PAR) has been around since 1974. That's 50 years of serving the greater Richmond community. The Position: PAR is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic full-time Medical Assistant for our West Broad PAR location. The Medical Assistant position will travel between PAR locations as needed. Enjoy weekly pay with the opportunity to grow in a team orientated work environment.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 an hour based on experience

Job Responsibilities for Medical Assistant

Patient Care during clinic

- Room patients for providers in clinic using Allscripts EMR o Obtain accurate vitals, current medications, history, review of systems, reason for visit, and other items as per clinic workflow expectations o Drop off patient CPAP machine to Day Techs in control room o Perform injections (Pneumonia, Flu, Xolair, TB Testing)

o Perform spirometries and 6 minute walks

o Administer oxygen and nebulizer therapy when needed o Instruct patients on proper use of inhalers

o Perform flu and strep testing

• Complete provider orders and relay information to patients, to include:

- Procedures such as sleep studies, PFT tests, CT scans, PET scans, etc.

- DME orders for oxygen, nebulizers, fax orders for CPAP machines and supplies, etc.

- Prescriptions through eRX

- Labs

- Referrals to other providers

- Misc. orders, such as Pulmonary Rehab

- Follow up appointments

• Daily duties outside of clinic include:

- Respond to healthcare providers' questions and requests (received via fax, EMR message, voice mail, etc.) such as DME companies for CPAP or oxygen set up, physician offices needing patient notes, pharmacies for RX refills, etc.

- Preload and scan patient charts into EMR

- Prep charts prior to office visit by ensuring all recent notes and results are in the chart

- Return patient messages within the deadline established by Administration:

o Rx refills

o Miscellaneous patient questions

- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures, home sleep studies and medications

- Other items as requested by providers

· Perform allergy skin testing on patients.

· Accurate document billing for each testing performed on patients.

· Will be cross trained in biologic and allergy injections to provide coverage as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for Medical Assistant

· At least 1 or more years of MA experience, preferably with experience working in medical practice.

· CNA or Certified MA training completion or equivalent education or experience is preferred.

Physical / Mental Demands:

· During clinic - standing and walking continuously. Outside of clinic - mostly sitting with some walking and standing.

· Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard, using a mobile device such as an iPad or laptop, and other office machines.

· Manual strength for using a manual blood pressure cuff.

· Ability to carry up to 10 lbs. frequently during clinic.

· Ability to view computer screens for long periods.

· Occasional stress related to workload and physician / patient demands.

· Sitting for long periods of time as well as occasional standing and walking.
