Material Handler - First Shift

Material Handler

U.S. Lumber, an SBP brand is currently looking for a Material Handler on 1st shift to work in our Indianapolis, IN facility. Material Handlers are responsible for performing a number of different and important responsibilities including material receiving, material & product movement, product shipping and production support responsibilities.

Essential Functions

• Receive, audit, inspect, ID and put away incoming material to proper locations
• Maintain housekeeping and organization in warehouse and other material location area
• Maintain correct inventories by moving materials in computer when physically moving materials
• Assists assigning production areas when not moving materials
• Ensure the product and or materials meet quality expectations
• Notify supervisor of improvement opportunities
• Support area needs to remove empty pallets, trash and recycle type materials
• Clean all parts and pieces using sandpaper, acetone on a cloth rag, or using air hose to blow off dust in tough to reach areas to ensure parts and pieces are ready to be painted
• Service the pre-finish line with needed material components (loading paint carts with frame parts and door's)
• Assist pre-finish line area with removal of completed product to go to build prep and or stretch-wrap machine
• Stage completed and stretched wrapped door products into shipping staging lanes by loads
• Load trucks with finished door products per direction of Production Manager
• Responsible for adhering to forklift, operational, quality and safety guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills & Abilities

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience: One to two years related experience Computer Skills: Experience using computer and handheld scanning gun

Certificates & Licenses

OSHA Forklift certification

Other Requirements

• Previous experience in material handling responsibilities in a production environment
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
