Genesis Industrial is hiring Solid Waste Collectors / Loader Helpers in Crockett, TX. They'll team with the Driver and assists in the collection of waste and/or recyclable material. This is full time work paying $16/hr, OT available.

Description of the opportunity:

• Heavy Lifting – Residential Trash Pick Up – Not glamourous, this is extremely hard work
• Ride along with a driver - Getting on & off trucks at each stop
• There is no set end time – days are typically 10–12-hr long
• The truck does not return to the yard until the route is completed.
• Manually or mechanically load empty residential/commercial containers into a truck.
• Containers may be staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service.
• Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into the truck hopper.
• Assist the driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.

Hiring Criteria:

• Are you comfortable working in the outside elements;  hot when hot, cold when cold, NO rain outs - everyone is expected to work even if its raining
• Dress Code:  No rips/tears in shirt/pants, no sweats, no athletic wear,
• Steel Toe Boots are required -  with laces – must go 6 inches over ankles.

 

Responsibilities (Other minor duties may be assigned)

• Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck.
• Containers may be staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service.
• Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper.
• Assist driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Notifies the Supervisor/Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notifies Supervisor or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
• Communicate with the driver on each route
• Navigate through traffic and busy intersections

Experience:
Six (6) months of prior work experience required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds frequently.
• Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Will be exposed to an environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
• Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens during training.
• Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
• Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
• Able to operate a wide range of tools
• Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel
• Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
• Able to walk through the shop and other outside elements, must be able to walk down street and dirt paths on route.
