Structural Staff Engineering Technician - Overhead Transmission Date: Jun 3, 2026 Location: Overland Park, KS; Phoenix, AZ; Houston, TX; Cary, NC; Orlando, FL; Houston, TX Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies The Opportunity This role supports Grid projects such as Overhead Transmission Line. The Structural Engineer Technician designs, analyzes, and details structural components, and collaborates with multidisciplinary project teams. Key Responsibilities Perform technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of engineering principles. Create and modify structural models, drawings, and details using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD. Provide technical guidance and support to other engineering professionals and technicians. Apply standards, codes, and BV policies for design deliverables. Review and ensure compliance of deliverables with project requirements and codes. Perform design calculations, material quantities, estimates, and record keeping. Support field activities and coordinate with design groups for project information exchange. Apply best practices, quality program, and continuous improvement efforts. Maintain project schedules and define work assignments when required. Preferred Qualifications Diploma or Certificate. Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology. Minimum Qualifications Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience. Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements. Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days.
