Certified Nursing Assistant

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting nursing personnel in providing care to residents within the scope of certification and training. Reporting relationship is to the RN on duty and the Director of Nursing. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization. Associates are expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with core values and support the goals and direction of the quality improvement process. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, filing, typing, and talking. Lifting objects over 100 lbs. with frequent lifting/carrying of up to 50 lbs. is required. Essential duties and responsibilities include providing all activities of daily living (ADL) cares to patients, including oral care, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, range of motion, ambulation, and dining. Care is delivered according to each patient's individual care plan. Care must be provided in a manner that respects the dignity and privacy of residents. Associates should offer choices with care and encourage patients to maintain independence whenever possible. Resident rights must be adhered to when providing care and communicating with patients. Call lights should be answered promptly. Changes in a patient's condition should be communicated to the staff nurse in a timely manner. Charting and documentation must be completed as required by policies and procedures. Interactions with the interdisciplinary team are necessary to communicate resident preferences and needs to establish individualized care plans. Associates are expected to maintain cleanliness of wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment. Any non-working or unsafe equipment or facility fixtures must be reported to maintenance. Safety equipment, such as gait belts, goggles, lifts, and transfer boards, should be used appropriately.
